It is the belief of Rebul Academy, its administration, teachers and staff that academics is our first and primary objective. A student must be involved in a well-rounded program that gives them the chance to grow physically and mentally. Mental growth takes place in the classroom and is supported through learning in the extracurricular areas. Our primary emphasis in the early grades is to teach a child to be literate in the areas of Reading and Mathematics. We teach reading in a phonetic approach by using the A Beka book series.
In the area of mathematics, it is vital for young children to learn the basic facts. Without knowledge of addition, subtraction and multiplication, a student is seriously lacking in his or her ability to grasp higher level math. We ask parents to be diligent in helping us teach these in the early grades. As a child progresses in the elementary grades, social studies and science are added to the curriculum. These are taught in a manner to make history and science real to a student.
After leaving the elementary grades, the curriculum expands and becomes more complex. Teachers in the junior and senior high use a combination of lecture, experimentation, questioning, as well as other techniques, to reach the student. Homework is practice that solidifies the facts taught in the classroom. It is important to set a time at home dedicated to doing homework. It should be a top priority in home life.
In all grades, field trips and research are important for students. It is necessary for their knowledge base to expand and grow. Our teachers are willing and ready to teach, re-teach, tutor and explain skills necessary for a good, solid education.
In addition to academics, our students will receive a taste of the arts. We offer Drama, Music and Art. This gives them an opportunity to grow aesthetically. It is the intention of Rebul Academy to present a program during the school year that includes the above areas and will involve both elementary and secondary students.
Rebul Academy recognizes the fact that students are not as physically active as earlier generations. With computers, video games and televisions in homes, coupled with the fast food industry, children and teens are exercising less. To combat this problem, Rebul recognizes the need for a well-rounded athletic program and a physical education program. These classes will require a student to exercise and grow physically.
Along with the above mentioned courses, we have foreign language, Bible and ACT prep classes, and advanced courses for our student body.
Overall, academics is the foundation of Rebul Academy. To participate in a sport or extracurricular activity, a student must pass his or her academic work first. Rebul Academy is committed to growing every child academically, mentally, physically and with Christian values.
